SURFING IN MALAYSIA??!!??

Surfing...

Did you know that now we can actually surf in Malaysia! Yup, you hear it right..surfing in Malaysia. 

You can do that now in Juara in Tioman Island. Now that the east coast of Malaysia is being batter by the monsoon from South China Sea, swells in Juara, Tioman was known to hit up to 15 foot waves...Now, that is some good swells for serious surfing. 

I would love to dust off my ole surfboard and ride the waves again. God, how I miss riding the waves, rolling into the Green Room. 

I used to surf a lot when I was residing England. With some friends, we actually drove all over southern and western part of England and Wales to catch whatever waves we can find. Mind you though..the only time we ever find good swells and waves for surfing are during the winter months!

Most of the time, we froze ourselves to the brink of hypothermia to catch the waves, even though we dressed ourselves up with plenty of lanolin, inner body warmers 

then our wetsuits. Sometimes, we looked like the Michelin Man going into the waters. 

We also scour South of France and few other remotely place whose names have eluded me now. I had one of the best time surfing those days even though waves were pretty hard to come by at times.

Right then, I need to grab my board off the rack and dust off the cobwebs then sand down the old wax and apply fresh new wax...Surfing baby..here I come again. 

Damn, come to think of it, I would also need to get some new surf gear too...doubt it I can fit into those old surf wet suits.

Maybe its high time, I get myself a new surfboard too, like the one from STEWART in the stateside. What a beauty...5 S fins as opposed to the conventional single or triple blade fins. Man, this board can do some serious moves! Check out STEWART's website at www.stewartsurfboards.com

My board was pretty much a classic board with a single fin, old school. I had it specially custom made when I was able to afford a decent board and be able to surf properly. 

Time to rekindle the old love affair. 

Life passes us by, so unbelievably fast!

A tribute to a close family friend whose passing was so sudden and unexpectedly. 

Uncle Edward. RIP. 

Uncle Edward passed away two weeks ago from a heart attack. 

A friend, a brother, an uncle and above all, someone whose selflessness and ever willingly to help teaches us the humbleness of oneself. 

Sadly all I can remember of Uncle Edward was that he is always there with us whenever we visited him in Singapore. He is also very helpful and ever accommodating to us whenever we are in town as a family. He would accompany my dad or my uncle whenever they are in town. I can see it from their eyes that they have lost a very good and loyal friend. 

To think of it, I honestly cannot remember much of him although I always get to see him or meet him whenever all of us are in town. The best part of it that I can remember is that he is always very helpful, friendly, down to earth and jovially happy, although can be quite sarcastic as well. 

I began to wonder if my failure to notice more of people around me will be a dent or red mark in my life's report card or rather failing as a caring human being. It sort of drove the fact that although he is a close family friend whom I know since I was a young boy, I know nothing of him pretty much. 

I remember of him staying with me when I was in England many years back and whenever I get to see him in Singapore or Malaysia, still I cannot remember much of him. 

I shall, make a toast to his life when I go for a drink next! Instead of mourning his passing, I will celebrate his life. Cheers! Uncle Edward.

 

Again life reminds us that our life on earth here is so fragile and its only for a brief moment in time no matter how long it seems.

Again life reminds us that we have to live our life to the fullest and to make the most of it.
